NAMI What is Depression?
Depression changes the way you not only see yourself but the world around you. 
Depression, it is more than the "blues" or sadness.It comes at any time of year, not just the holidays.  It lasts longer than a few days or weeks and affects every facet of one's daily life. It affects twice as many women than men and affects 15 million American adults each year. 
According to NAMI, Major Depression is the leading cause of disability in the US and other countries.
Depression affects our thoughts, behaviours, moods, activities and can be so severe it affects even our physical health. 
More than half, that is more than 50% of people who experience major Clinical Depression will continue experience episodes. If treatment is not sought and adhered to, not only do the symptoms increase in severity but Major Depression can lead to suicide.
