Since being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I have learned more about my body and health than I did before. The MOST Important thing I have learned however is how destructive my eating habits had been on my system.
All during my childhood I remember that food substituted for love so very often. That food was often junk food. Candy, cupcakes, chocolates and anything that would make "ME" feel better...for the moment. It never lasted and definitely did harm my body even though as a child I was unable to recognize it. It was a coping mechanism, an unhealthy one that remained with me long into adulthood.
Momma loved me, this I knew and so did my grandparents. It was the love and approval of another I sought and never received.
So now close to mid-life I am making even more choices to drastically alter my lifestyle and eating patterns for the betterment of my health. I have always loved fresh fruits and veggies. I include much more of them now as well as eating less and less of anything in a can.
Have you ever lead the label of what you are purchasing? I mean REALLY read them. Salt, sugar and High Fructose corn syrup are in most everything canned. MSG is another culprit and is under so many different names. Research the internet and you will be surprised and perhaps even shocked at what you find is in the foods on our shelves and in some of what you might be eating.
Fibromyalgia has me allergic to so many preservatives and chemicals out there that most of what I eat now is fresh - it has to be. I rarely eat meat. I do eat boneless, skinless chicken. I cannot have sandwich meats as they contain nitrites/nitrates; nor cheese as they all have the natural preservative Natamycin and I am VERY Allergic to that. Natamycin is also in MANY Salad Dressings...SO if you are Allergic to Erythromycin which is a MACROLIDE antibiotic then You Need to be aware of this...
I have always been a label reader yet I am even More aware now of what I am eating due to having Fibromayalgia...My diagnosis has assisted me in changing my lifestyle faster.
QUESTION: What is The Most important thing You have learned since being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia?
Thanks for stopping by! Have a Spectacular and Safe Weekend!
Peace,
Elizabeth
